Over Onyx Power

Onyx Power is een Europees energiebedrijf en expert op het gebied van thermische energieopwekking. Met ongeveer 2.000 megawatt geïnstalleerde productiecapaciteit leveren de centrales een bijdrage aan een betrouwbare elektriciteits- en warmtevoorziening in Duitsland en Nederland.

Het portfolio moet tegen 2030 worden omgezet naar klimaatvriendelijke technologieën en er worden nieuwe productiecapaciteiten opgebouwd. Dit omvat zowel de ombouw van bestaande installaties naar alternatieve en milieuvriendelijke brandstoffen als de verdere ontwikkeling van de locaties tot moderne, energie-efficiënte energieparken. Het bedrijf wekt nu al elektriciteit en warmte op via een mix van conventionele en hernieuwbare energiebronnen.

Het bedrijf telt circa 400 medewerkers, heeft zijn hoofdkantoor in Berlijn en exploiteert productie- en administratieve locaties in Bremen, Düsseldorf, Rotterdam, Wilhelmshaven en Zolling.

Uw taken

Are you a strategic networker with a passion for politics, regulation and the energy transition? Would you like to play a key role in representing one of Europe’s most modern power stations? And would you like to actively contribute to the Netherlands’ energy transition? Then this role at Onyx Power is for you.

As Country Lead for Public & Regulatory Affairs in the Netherlands, you will be responsible for public affairs, regulatory affairs and stakeholder management in the Netherlands. You will represent Onyx Power in dealings with the government, regulators, network operators, the Port of Rotterdam and industry  organizations. In addition, you will translate developments in Dutch and European energy policy into concrete opportunities and risks for our Rotterdam site.

  • Oversee key regulatory affairs activities, ensuring the company remains well-positioned to navigate an evolving energy and policy environment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a broad range of stakeholders; government, regulators, Port of Rotterdam, industry associations and other strategic stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute public affairs initiatives and advocacy strategies that support the company's long-term objectives.
  • Monitor Dutch and European policy and regulatory developments, assess business impact, and advise senior leadership on risks, opportunities, and mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with Group Communications on media relations, position papers, and community engagement activities around our Rotterdam site. You act as the primary point of contact for Dutch media on policy and regulatory matters.
  • Manage relationships with external advisors and agencies, providing clear direction and strategic guidance.
  • Produce high-quality reports, briefings, stakeholder materials, and publications that support effective communication and decision-making.
  • Stay at the forefront of developments in energy policy, regulation, technology, and energy.


Reporting line and scope
Reports directly to the Head of Public and Regulatory Affairs in Berlin. No direct reports at the outset. Close functional cooperation with plant management Rotterdam, Group Communications, Legal and Commercial. Scope is the Netherlands: the Rotterdam site and the national and EU dossiers that determine its future.

Uw profiel

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Level in law, business economics, political science, engineering or a related field.
  • At least three years in Dutch energy policy, regulation or public affairs, gained in industry, at a regulator, in a ministry, at an industry association or in consultancy.
  • Strong understanding of the Dutch political and regulatory environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex political, regulatory and market developments and translate them into clear strategic recommendations.
  • Experience in developing policy positions, briefing materials or strategic analyses based on legislative, regulatory and market developments.
  • A proactive and intellectually curious mindset, combining strategic thinking, sound analytical judgement and a hands-on approach.
  • Dutch and English are required, both at professional working level. German is a preference.
  • Based in Rotterdam, with regular presence in The Hague and Brussels and regular travel to the Berlin headquarters.
